SUNplace is a solar-powered cooking table that uses clean energy to cook food in a futuristic barbecue-inspired way. This cooking table was created by the duo design team of Francesca Lanzavecchia and Hunn Wai.
The unique table was designed as a project for the 2015 Milan Expo. The Expo explores the future of food and encourages designers to present new ways to make and enjoy meals. The SUNplace is a communal cooking grill with an overhanging Fresnel lens that cooks food on a cast iron grill using solar power.
The grill is placed in the center of a circular wooden table that encourages groups of people to participate in a shared cooking experience. This unique table comes with glasses and gloves that provide complete protection for those who are using the grill.
