Phone-Controlled Dolls

The Smart Doll is a Toy Designed to be Controlled by Smartphones

Designer Danny Choo has recently created a doll that can be controlled by smartphones. This adds an interesting technological aspect to playtime. Choo turned a preexisting Japanese doll called Mirai Suenaga into what he calls a Smart Doll.

Living dolls sound like some people's worst nightmare. Realistic dolls can be rather frightening, so moving dolls seem twice as scary. However this product is sure to be enjoyed by kids. It's interesting because while dolls are for children, smartphones are typically for adults (or teens). This product seems to encourage giving younger children smartphones, which is a clever way to push for increased smartphone use in families.

Choo is currently looking into improving the movements and responses of this smartphone operated doll. The Smart Doll blends toys and technology in a new and interesting way.
