Containerwerk brought new life to old shipping containers by transforming them into small apartment units that are sustainably made and affordable. This recycled process is informed by an insulated design that helps with noise and heat as the steel containers are able to contain heat well.
The German company produces the small homes and results in 21 micro apartments in total. All of them are made from three refurbished shipping containers and the architecture can be seen in the town of Wertheim in Germany. It functions as rentable units or as short stay accommodations for tourists or those on business trips. To further enhance the sustainable approach, it is build on top of strip foundations to reduce any damage to the site.
