Connected Vehicle Privacy Controls

Ford Launches Privacy Promise for Connected Vehicle Data

Connected vehicle privacy controls are becoming more transparent as Ford introduces its Privacy Promise, an initiative designed to help drivers understand and manage their personal data. The program includes a dedicated website explaining how vehicle information is collected, used, and protected, while guiding customers through privacy settings available inside their vehicles and through the Ford App.

Ford emphasizes customer choice by allowing drivers to adjust information-sharing preferences according to their needs and connected services. The company also commits to never selling driving behavior data to brokers. Research involving more than 1,000 U.S. consumers highlighted the importance of accessible privacy controls and clear explanations of data practices.

For automakers, greater transparency could strengthen customer relationships and encourage confidence in connected vehicle services. Ford's initiative also demonstrates how privacy education and customizable settings can become important elements of automotive customer experiences.
