Havana-based designers Raiko Valladares and Jose A Villa created a line of colorful elastic chairs titled 'Vibra.' Each of the chairs begins with a curvaceous metal frame that is draped with colorful elastic ropes -- weaved and threaded to create the pieces' seats and backrests.
The elastic ropes provide a unique tension-supported seat that aims to give users a different style of comfort. These chairs were made in Cuba which allowed the designers to explore the use of elastic because it is one of the few materials that can withstand the nation's humidity.
The unique chairs are made with locally sourced materials and embody Cuba's spirit and culture. While the chairs seem like playful toys, they also exude an air of modern sophistication.
