Barcelona has been making concerted efforts over the last several years to become a more publicly bicycle-friendly city, and Colombo and Serboli Architecture subsequently designed an apartment in the city to encourage and aid in that quest on a private level. The apartment, which sits above one of Barcelona's main thoroughfares, features several interesting bespoke design quirks, the most notable being a wall-mounted bicycle rack.
The unfortunate byproduct of Barcelona embracing cycling is that bicycle theft is rampant in the city. Cyclists frequently spend more money on a heavy duty lock than they do on their actual bicycles. By installing a wall-mounted bicycle rack directly in the apartment, the residents are able to keep their bikes inside while still being efficient with the finite amount of space that they have available.
