Dagna Napierała’s stunning ‘Cocoon’ art series is an interesting one that shows what a difference color choice can make. Napierała has two versions of the Cocoon sculptures: one light version and one dark.
The light version seems to be made up of airy, feathery pieces, while the darker version takes on the characteristics of heavy serpentine-like scales. The contrast is an interesting one, especially since the construction of both pieces is the same, although the overall forms of the Cocoon sculptures differ a little bit.
Both of the pieces in the Cocoon series created by Napierała slightly resemble Kate MccGwire’s unusual feather sculptures, which have the same sort of eerie and slightly monstrous quality to them.
