A group of scientists and engineers working out of the Biomimetic Millisystems Lab over at the University of California at Berkeley have devised an incredible new cockroach-inspired robot that is able to showcase some supremely impressive prowess when it comes to the act of climbing up stairs.
The VelociRoACH system essentially consists of a pair of robots, with the front robot taking care of navigation and the rear robot providing a boost from behind.
This cockroach-inspired robot isn't merely cool to look at, but could be extremely useful in a wide variety of scientific and industrial settings thanks to its unique ability to scale stairs, allowing it to move in a way that many traditional robots haven't been able to do.
