The Japanese beef bowl chain Matsuya just unveiled the unexpected new Cheese Burger Don.
In a mashup of Eastern and Western flavors, the new Cheese Burger Don combines the beloved Japanese beef bowl dish gyudon with all the elements of a classic American cheeseburger. Available since November 12, the new Cheese Burger Don dish features a hamburger patty, cheese, veggies, mayo, tomato sauce, and a fried egg, all served in a big bowl. In other words, it's like a deconstructed cheeseburger, minus the bun. While this might sound simple, the hamburger's tender texture and the use of a tart tomato sauce instead of ketchup make this beef bowl a standout.
The new Cheese Burger Don is available from participating Matsuya locations for a limited time.
