Although it began as an April Fool's joke, Wayback Burgers ended up creating a real drink out of vanilla ice cream and Cheez Whiz called the Cheeeesy Gold Milkshake. Though the hybrid drink did not become a regular menu addition, it does demonstrate how unlikely partnerships between restaurants and popular food products can drum up a great deal of publicity for brands.
The Cheeeesy Gold Milkshake created by Wayback Burgers featured vanilla bean ice cream blended with milk and Kraft's iconic cheese spread Cheez Whiz. While customers were given a straw for their cheese-based milkshake, the chain also suggested the drink could double as a dip for its popular house-made potato chips.
Although the hybrid drink was initially created as a publicity stunt, the experiment demonstrates the potential for unusual food and beverage pairings.
