As part of the RIT Metaproject, students teamed up with Herman Miller to develop office furniture that put a focus on the relationships between coworkers—this chair for two named the Invitation Chair turns a space for one into ample room for two.
The chair design by Alexander Bennett looks like a fairly conventional office chair when it's closed up, but with a quick twist, the chair splits into two separate seats for a cozy side-by-side seating arrangement. To help conveniently divide up the space, the chair's backrest becomes the arm rest between the two seats. The lightweight chair has a handle on the backrest and wheels so that it's easy to transport the chair from one place to another, which makes it particularly handy for impromptu meeting.
