Casa N is a countryside home in rural Peru, but in terms of its design, it looks nothing like what one might imagine of a residence tucked away in sylvan pastures. Rather than reverting to quaint styles like gabled roofs and wooden facades, Casa N features three dramatically cantilevered volumes clad in perforated, pre-rusted Corten steel.
As if the exterior weren't striking enough to come upon in the middle of an idyllic training ground for horses, the interior is equally aggressive in its modern style. The centerpiece of the interior is a spiral staircase with a bright red steel banister. The walls surrounding this staircase are covered in abstract cubes, giving the central column of the home the look of something dreamed up by Matisse.
