The automotive financing unit of Ally Bank, which is titled Ally Auto recently transformed car scents into real life fragrances. The colognes were used as a promotional strategy in order for the agency to stand out during the North American International Auto Show.
During the show, Ally Auto presented eight unique colognes that reflected new (and old) car scents. These odors ranged from 'Eco-Friendly Hybrid' to 'Rugged SUV.' Each cologne was packaged in a matching box, while the bottles humorously listed particular ingredients. For example, the 'Family Wagon' was said to contain "the essence of baby wipes, crayons and regret."
The ultimate goal for this publicity stunt was to captivate the attention of consumers and promote the brand in an authentic and memorable way. While car payments aren't as glamorous as the feeling of actually driving a new car, this highly creative method of promotion is a great way to draw consumer attention to automobile finances.
