TriLink BioTechnologies, a subsidiary of Maravai LifeSciences and a global provider of life science reagents and services, has strengthened its international intellectual property portfolio with the issuance of a new patent from the China National Intellectual Property Administration for its CleanCap® Capping Technology.
The patent covers methods of synthesizing RNA molecules using TriLink BioTechnologies' full suite of CleanCap capping analogs, including the latest M6 analog. It includes claims directed to co-transcriptional RNA synthesis methods utilizing trimer or tetramer capping structures. CleanCap technology enables the co-transcriptional production of messenger RNA containing the major natural cap structures found in humans.
The technology has already been deployed in commercially approved COVID-19 mRNA and saRNA vaccines and is currently underpinning drug development programs across a wide range of therapeutic areas, including oncology, infectious diseases, rare diseases, and cell and gene therapies.
