AI Drug Platforms

Insilico Medicine And GenEditBio Deploy AI To Speed Rare-Disease Work

Two biotech startups showcased AI-driven platforms at Web Summit Qatar that aim to accelerate treatments for rare diseases. Insilico Medicine introduced its MMAI Gym, a program designed to train generalist large language models to handle multiple drug-discovery tasks, while GenEditBio unveiled its NanoGalaxy-powered approach featuring engineered protein delivery vehicles (ePDVs) for in vivo gene editing.

Insilico’s platform ingests biological, chemical and clinical data to automate target identification, molecule design and drug-repurposing hypotheses, reducing manual lab hours. GenEditBio combines a library of thousands of nonviral polymer nanoparticles with AI that correlates chemical tweaks to tissue targeting and immune profiles; wet-lab tests feed results back to refine predictions.

For patients and developers, these systems promise faster candidate generation and more scalable delivery methods, lowering costs and expanding access. By automating labor-intensive steps and improving tissue-specific delivery, the tools demonstrate a trend toward AI as a force multiplier in drug discovery and gene therapy.
