Salt-Created Home Furnishings

Lindsey Adelman & Calico Wallpaper Joined to Create Lights & Murals

New York-based designer Lindsey Adelman and label Calico Wallpaper joined forces in creating a joint showcase for Milan Design Week. This collaborative project is comprised of lighting systems and murals created with salt to exude a visual effect of "alchemy and decay." The presentation pieces are entitled the Adelman Drop lighting system and Calico Oceania wallpaper. The two found that they share a similar interest in experimentation of natural corrosive chemicals, such as salt to change the visual appearance of surfaces.

Adelman and Calico naturally chose the theme of salt for the collaborative range of work, creating a larger picture of the ocean using the selection of color hues and pattern designs.

The presentation room is set to have the walls lined with blue watercolor murals marbled with salt. The lights will be showcased in front of the wallpaper designs to tie the entire atmosphere together. The illuminating systems are bulbs attached to cylindrical rods boasting the same watercolor salted design.
