Caity Duffus Has Designed a Container to Watch Mushrooms Grow

Designer Caity Duffus has built a minimal - yet aesthetically pronounced - container for mushrooms. The design was conceived in order to reconnect humans with their natural surroundings.

Caity Duffus noticed that during the COVID-19 pandemic, humans sought out more meaningful connections with the natural world. Noticing this need, she set off to create a product that allows users to reconnect with their natural environment. Through the process of assembling, caring for, and nourishing mushrooms, humans are able to reconnect with their innate nature.

She, therefore, created the 'Mycelia House,' which essentially is a DIY oyster mushroom grow kit. Mycelia House is a two-piece set - a handmade ceramic container and a handblown glass jar that protects the mushroom. The kit comes completed with thorough instructions and is sustainably made.
