Column-Framed Farm Houses

Sandy Rendel Architects Designs the Bury Gate Farm House

London design studio Sandy Rendel Architects designs the Bury Gate Farm, which is a family home defined by its colonnade details. It has fice bedrooms and replaces the bungalow that was first built in the 50s. It rests on top of a sloped site in Pulborough overlooking greenery.

The farm house is a contemporary interpretation of a 'parkland villa' to perfectly blend with the local space and rural site. Founder of the studio, Sandy Rendel speaks to Dezeen about the design concept. He states, "The South Downs National Park requires a landscape-led approach that respects local character. The challenge was how to craft a sensitive contemporary design that responds to and enhances this protected landscape without resorting to historic mimicry."
