The 'Bumpboxx BB-777' is a large-format boombox designed to revive the physical presence of 1980s audio systems while integrating modern playback formats. Designed by Rob Owens and Luis Maciel, the unit spans nearly 30 inches wide and features a symmetrical front layout with dual cassette decks, a central control panel, and a long analog tuner strip. Its interface relies on physical knobs for bass, treble, and volume, emphasizing direct control over touch-based interaction.
The system supports an unusually wide range of formats, including cassette playback and dubbing, CD and CD-R/CD-RW discs, AM/FM and shortwave radio, USB audio, AUX input, and Bluetooth with TWS pairing. It can also record audio from tapes, CDs, or radio directly to USB, combining analog and digital workflows in one device. A 270-watt, six-driver setup with woofers, coaxial speakers, and horn tweeters delivers high-output sound, supported by a fan-cooled amplifier and chambered enclosure for bass performance.
