Painting-Inspired Artful Cars

The New BMW Art Car Takes the M Hybrid V8 As the Canvas

The new BMW Art car marks the brand's 20th and it takes the BMW M Hybrid V8 car as a canvas. It is designed by Ethiopian-born American artist Julie Mehretu and is meant to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June next month. The design is inspired by the tones and form of her painting 'Everywhen.'

It is currently in the artist's Ensemble exhibition in Venice's Palazzo Grassi. The new Art Car is dynamically created with a visually bold design. The layered work is digitally edited using photographs and then overlaid with various dotted grids with bursts of black marks and a slew of neon tones. When blended all together, it creates a sense of movement and dynamic forms.
