Eerie Blown Glass Collections

Nouvel Limited Displays Beautifully Dysmorphic Material Experiments

Mexican manufacturer Nouvel Limited exhibited its experimental blown glass collection at Switzerland's art and design fair. The exhibition consisted of a few incredibly engaging and form-challenging pieces — from design studio EWE's wall-mounted magma-like lighting system to "blown glass vessels slumped over steel and brass stands" by Mexican designers Héctor Esrawe, Emiliano Godoy and Los Angeles-based creative Brian Thoreen.

The exhibited blown glass collection definitely pushes the boundaries of the material and traditional manufacturing practices. While the sculptural balance of the vessels and the thin metal stands is exquisite and incredibly delicate, the bubbly aesthetic of EWE's golden edition lighting system is reached through the masterful utilization of hand-carved volcanic stone molds.

Whilst pushing the limits of form, texture and material, Nouvel Limited and collaborating designers redefined the use of the medium with a sculptural blown glass collection.
