Reinvention is a crucial part of maintaining brand relevance, a theory that Disney knows all too well. In Disney’s latest brand reinvention, animators have employed the help of street artists to give Mickey Mouse and his pals a good old-fashioned makeover.
The street art interpretations of these iconic Disney characters vary widely from evil to updated, and all feature an edgy, urban feel. As you might expect from Disney, their designs have been integrated into a line of Disney accessories, apparel, guitars, vinyls, bicycles, and hats.
BLOC28 just wrapped up a gallery exhibition of the work at Los Angeles’ The Continental Gallery. BLOC28’s Disney merchandise is featured in an Ebay charity auction through November 20.
