In an effort to reduce e-bike theft the Dutch Road Transport Authority (RDW) has developed the BikeBlockchain to better process thefts and aid in recovery. Choosing to focus on e-bikes, this new blockchain-based initiative has already been warmly received by the insurance sector and serves as a prime example of a government body leveraging modern technological innovation.
The efficiency of the BikeBlockchain ensures that users are easily able to track stolen bikes thanks to an integrated smart lock. This lock logs all the instances when the bike is locked and unlocked and quickly shares the last location on a companion app. The BikeBlockchain app also allows users to instantly report the theft to the police who will produce and automatically generated warrant.
