The 'I woke up like this' costume tutorial by Refinery29 may not be exactly what you had in mind when you decided to dress as Beyonce this Halloween, but hey: you left it till the last minute. Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither was a Beyonce costume, so this lyrical interpretation will have to do.

The costume is a little more realistic than the selfies under the #IWokeUpLikeThis tag on Instagram. It features messy hair, dark circles and less-than-perfect skin. To recreate, apply mousse to your hair and tease it with a comb until it's as similar to your Saturday morning bedhead as possible. Instead of removing your daytime makeup, layer on some more for a particularly crusty look. Apply eyeliner and smudge it by using a fan brush, leaving you disheveled and bedraggled.
