Preserved Modern Residences

Bellaire House Has Been Saved Through a Private Preservation Purchase

Bellaire House has been saved from demolition through a private preservation purchase by new owners committed to maintaining the structure. The modernist home was designed by architect Victor Lundy and completed in the late twentieth century as both a residence and studio. The property features curved structural forms, expansive glass walls, exposed timber framing, and an open living layout connected to the surrounding landscape. The house had faced potential removal following a change in ownership before the preservation effort was finalized.

The property is one of the few remaining intact residential projects by Lundy. The new owners plan to carry out measured restoration work to stabilize materials and maintain the original architectural features. The interior includes a double-height living volume, studio spaces, and continuous glazing along the primary facade. The preservation ensures the structure remains intact as a documented example of late modernist residential design.
