WhatsApp Will Now Be Available on Simple Cellphones

WhatsApp has added backward compatibility features, making it now available to basic cellphones. Owners of basic cellphones can access the app through the KaiStore. Any KaiOS cellphone that has over 256MB of RAM can now run the messaging app. The app will newly be available to a huge section of untapped users, there are currently 100 million KaiOS phones that have been shipped. The KaiOS app was initially offered to India's JioPhone beginning in September 2018.
WhatsApp offering its service to basic cellphone models allows the platform to expand to many different users, however, the app already has a user base of 1.5 billion. Smartphones have drastically risen in popularity, however many cellphone users still operate more simplistic models.
