The BMW mid-80s era of R-series motorcycles have been a favorite base for custom makers for some time now, but the Barbara Black Mamba takes the commonly used model to the extreme with its new custom bike. The R-series has been a favorite among builders because of its iconic flat-twin airhead engine, carburetors, single-sided swingarm and monoshock, but also because of its solid base to build upon. Most of these components have remained in the Barbara Black Mamba but are also beautifully integrated into the stunning design of the bike.

While custom builds tend to fall into themes of apocalyptic or classic, Black Mamba has carved out a distinct niche for creating futuristic bikes. The Barbara Black Mamba is no exception to this theme and wonderfully turns the BMW R-series bike into an aggressive spaceship on two wheels. The single-sided swingarm has been replaced with a modern RnineT swingarm and USD front forks have been added to the R-series motor and frame. The fuel tank flows excellently into the sleek small seat in a way that strikes a balance between retro and futuristic design.
