Soap Bar-Inspired Sofas

The Cosse Sofa Wraps Around You Like a Bar of Soap with its Soft Curves

As part of the 2014 Cologne design fair, French designer Philippe Nigro has been enlisted by French furniture brand Ligne Roset to create a sofa called the Cosse Sofa that wraps around the sitter like a bar of soap with comfort in mind. The result is an extremely clean design with naturally meandering bends and contours that is designed to fit the user snugly.

The polyurethane foam sofa is designed with curved front edges that have ergonomic armrests with a rounded back panel. The sofa is also fitted with webbed elastic suspension that further enhances the comfort level of the sofa.

On the shape of the curvaceous sofa, Nigro says, "softly welcoming contours, a soft, delicate all-enveloping form which, sustained by a fine natural wood structure, floats above the ground."
