Mercedes-AMG is moving its GT line into a battery-electric SUV with the AMG GT SUV, giving AMG buyers supercar-style pace in a family-size luxury body. It is the division's first full-size SUV developed entirely in Affalterbach and the second model on the AMG.EA performance EV platform.
European orders open October 20 for the entry model, and higher trims follow there in spring 2027. The entry version uses a 106-kWh battery, while later models step up to 128 kWh for longer cruising and brief charging stops. Peak output reaches 1,153 horsepower, and the cabin adds a synthetic AMG V8 soundtrack.
Summer 2027 U.S. arrivals bring the GT SUV to AMG's biggest market, which accounts for about a third of its sales. The smaller-battery entry trim and later step-up versions widen the brand's electric SUV range, while the in-house platform moves AMG beyond its long-standing role of turning regular Mercedes-Benz models into hotter variants.
