For years now, consumers have been using augmented reality previews to virtually test how everything from paint colors to various pieces of furniture will look in the home. With each passing year, the technology only gets more advanced, offering representations that are all the more accurate.
Houzz recently updated its app to include a new addition to the free View in My Room 3D tool—now, app users are able to see how certain 3D-enabled tile products will look in a physical space. The tool works by scanning the floor and identifying the perimeter of the space and virtually testing out different kinds of tile in augmented reality. As well as being able to change the orientation of the virtual tile within the app, users are also able to get a sense of project costs.
