Thousands of people tune into beauty product reviews and tutorials with trusted influencers to decide whether or not they might like to purchase a product—but now, YouTube is introducing a feature that lets viewers play with augmented reality makeup.
YouTube is now introducing an AR Beauty Try-On that unfolds as a split-screen experience when viewing makeup tutorials. With this AR tool, viewers are able to instantly test out a variety of beauty products in different shades. Currently, the features is available to content creators on the platform via Google’s in-house branded content program FameBit.
While viewers often choose to trust the opinion of an influencer based on trust, or perhaps the fact that they share similar skin tones, this new AR feature gives consumers the ability to see products previewed on their own face.
