Contemporary Sloped Residences

Atelier BOOM-TOWN Designed the Intervalle Residence

The Intervalle residence, designed by Atelier BOOM-TOWN, is situated on a sloped, forested property overlooking a lake in the Laurentians region of Quebec. The architectural approach directly engages with the challenging terrain by organizing the structure into two distinct levels, each clad in contrasting light and dark wood.

The upper floor of the Intervalle residence is dedicated to shared living areas, featuring an open layout with extensive glazing to capture panoramic views, a central fireplace, and access to outdoor terraces. The lower level, on the other hand, benefits from the natural slope for direct ground access. It contains the private sleeping quarters and additional flexible spaces.

Atelier BOOM-TOWN's design philosophy emphasizes a harmonious relationship with the natural setting, using a restrained material palette to create a sense of balance and a retreat for contemplation.
