B2A Architects' New Cascade House Has Panoramic Views

— January 27, 2026 — Art & Design
The B2A Architects Cascade House combines terraced volumes with panoramic views on a steeply sloped site in the Santa Monica Mountains, using a cascade of interconnected platforms to respond to the terrain and capture coastal vistas. The design, completed by B2A Architects, arranges programmatic zones across split levels that step down the hillside, linking outdoor living areas, cantilevered decks, and interior spaces through a sequence of circulation paths that follow the natural incline.

The residence’s structure features concrete retaining walls and steel framing that support large glazed openings facing southwest toward the ocean, while narrower windows on the uphill side preserve privacy and thermal performance. Exterior terraces provide areas for relaxation and dining, and the architectural plan situates the main living room, kitchen, and primary bedroom to maximise uninterrupted views. Sustainable strategies include cross-ventilation, shading devices integrated into the overhangs, and materials chosen for durability in a coastal climate.
