Data that is collected from a smart home system is could potentially be life-saving, and this is the premise behind 'Assured Living,' a new sensor-based notification service for seniors.

With this new smart home service, Best Buy is offering free in-home assessments to families that want to gift the elderly more independence. With the sensor-based system installed, families and designated caretakers are then able to check in on the movements of an elderly individual, making it possible to detect both regular and irregular activities with ease.

With all of the systems in place and the companion Best Buy Assured Living app, a person is able to monitor daily activities in different rooms of a dwelling, check average wakeup times, visits to the kitchen and see when different sets of lights are used.
