Aesthetically Pleasing Artist Studios

Konishi Gaffney Turns a 1950s Garage into an Artist's Studio

Architecture firm Konishi Gaffney just recently created an aesthetically captivating artist studio in an affluent neighborhood in Edinburgh, Scottland. The local practice was tasked with converting a garage from the 1950s into a functional studio. The location was part of an existing Georgian house and the architects needed to be mindful of that.

Konishi Gaffney added various elements during the overhaul. The firm raised the roof of the garage to match the height of the house's ground floor, included a skylight to increase natural light flow, and incorporated a side gate into the facade. The facade of the artist studio is sculptural and interesting. It includes a sizable window and the concealed side gate. The owners can also access the back garden via the overhauled artist studio.
