Artist Cecilia Levy Creates Delicate Vessels Out of Comic Books and More

At first glance, it would be easy to mistake the work of artist Cecilia Levy as actual porcelain dishware. Carefully constructed, the delicate designs are nevertheless made out of comic books and century-old books. She essentially turns two dimensional objects into three dimensional ones in a very clever and deceptive way. Especially when it comes to the use of comic books since the sculptures have a decidedly feminine aesthetic.

Artist Cecilia Levy doesn't necessarily want to rethink the materials used or the objects created specifically. Instead, her "eggshell thin, yet remarkably steady" sculptures simply allow "the story [to] live on, but in a different shape," as she puts it. This shows how such materials can enjoy a second chance at life in the form of unexpected art.
