Nendo's Artificial Bonsai Design Can Be Trimmed Like a Real Tree
Laura McQuarrie — April 3, 2016 — Art & Design
One of the newest creations from Japanese design firm Nendo is an artificial bonsai tree that perfectly captures the beauty and delicacy of the real plant.
There's an art to taking care of a bonsai tree that is replicated with a 3D-printed design. When it comes to creating the bonsai, consumers have the opportunity to select a custom tree base and a plastic lattice piece of their choosing. Once the design has been finalized and printed, pieces of the lattice can be cut away, as if to prune the plant. Alternatively, it's also possible to 3D-print the design as a complete product that needs no shaping or cutting.
Maintaining a bonsai tree can be a time-consuming task, but this inventive Nendo design makes it possible for consumers to enjoy the artistry without actually tending to the needs of a real plant.
