Art of Boxing USA Facility Opens in North Charleston

Art of Boxing USA has opened a new facility in North Charleston, founded by Head Coach Othell Brown — a former competitive amateur world kickboxing champion and longtime firefighter, whose training lineage traces back through Coach Richard Chen to Bruce Lee and ultimately to Master Ip Man.

The method employed by Art of Boxing USA blends eastern martial arts principles, repetitive striking, footwork, and defensive drills to help students enter a flow state.

Coach Brown proudly shares: “When our students are trained continuously and with a clear method, they are then able to enter a flow state that allows them to fluidly switch between combinations without a thought. The essence of this ideology is to create a flow, and then, without warning, have the ability to break the loop with an unexpected strike. Structured physical activity and sport are proven to have an astounding impact on youth, improving anxiety and depression, and contributing significantly to academic achievements. I have felt this firsthand, and we hope to be that source for our students.”
