These Off-Kilter Images Use a Crumbling Resort as Their Setting

This surreal series of photos showcases oddball characters, candy-colored retro fashions and disconcertingly detached perspectives against the backdrop of an opulent antique hotel.
Bex Day's photoshoot for Garage Magazine, entitled 'Manic Ovation,' seems to tell an indecipherable story. The shoot took place at the Scarborough Grand Hotel, a seaside resort in North Yorkshire, England. When the antique hotel was built, in 1867, it was one of the largest and most elegant in the world.
The subjects of 'Manic Ovation' are aged and eccentric or young and proud, cowboys, prom queens and fashion grandmas. They wear letterman jackets and Sophia Loren headscarves and bedroom slippers. They lounge around a rococo antique hotel as if they belong there naturally.
It's hard to tell what's going on, but there's definitely something going on.
