Virtual Book Clubs

Anobii Creates a Social Networking Environment for Bookworms

If you're constantly on the lookout for new books to read and enjoy discussing the books you've already read, then head on over to Anobii. Anobii is an online platform that connects book-lovers and acts like a virtual book club, providing a social networking environment where bookworms can search for books they might like to read and discuss books with those on their friends lists.

Anobii allows users to create virtual bookshelves of books they've read and rate those books in addition to putting them in lists and adding comments. Anobii makes it easy to find books you'll love because users can follow other readers with similar tastes -- the site even provides you with a "taste compatibility" score between you and another reader.

Since its launch in 2006, Anobii has been creating a global presence for itself and launched an updated version of the platform earlier this month. Anobii, which means "bookworm" in Latin, aims to provide users with a place for discovery, rather than a place for purchases, such as online book retailer Amazon.
