The sculptures of Andy Tirado is interesting for many reasons, two of which involves the fact that they are made with reclaimed wood and take on the form of gigantic hands. Utterly breathtaking, it shows just how stunning the human form can be, especially abstract versions of it. It helps that Andy Tirado fashioned the sculptures with an unconventional carving technique using only a drill and forstner bits.
Relying on tons of texture, Andy Tirado, who is the shop supervisor for the 3D Arts facility at Colorado College, appears to convey a sense of age and wisdom. Not to mention that the sculptures follow an eco-friendly ethos that many can appreciate. All in all, it factors in both beauty and respect.
