Google Has Added an AMP-Powered Search System to Images

Google is enhancing its image searching by adding an AMP-powered search function to the platform. An AMP-powered search, or accelerated mobile pages search, allows users to quickly access the website in which an image is from. Users can go through different images from a Google Images search and swipe up on a preview in order to load the AMP website. The technology was originally revealed at the Google I/O, and it will make mobile image searching a more efficient process.

Google also indicates that AMP searches will still register as a page view for a website found through the image search. Additionally, Google states that it will create a tool for website owners to track how many views come from AMP searches. For website owners to access this the features, their sites will need to support AMP.
