Amazon Amp was first announced last Spring when the company noted that it is working on the live audio-streaming service. It was meant to reinvent the idea of radio by offering what it described as "an infinite dial of shows." There, Amp is able to offer users a slew of audios including a built-in music library and the option to create their own DJ sets. Now, it is coming to fruition as the Amp platform is available on Android.
It is the company's industrial home-grown streaming platform. One of the contracted creators for Amp, Zach Sang explains how Amp differentiates from traditional radio. He states, “It's very much like Sirius meets YouTube. It's real-life, legacy career broadcasters mixed with the future of those broadcasters. It's everybody coming together, it's radio democratized. It's a way that radio genuinely should be programmed: for people and not for profit.”
