The American Airlines rebranding design by Anna Kovecses gives the airline a clean slate.

Taking tips from aesthetically pleasant sites like Pinterest, the redesign features box sections of information. Everything from web layout, mobile app design and the boarding pass ticket were re-imaged to be streamlined and image-based. The design-savvy layout is complemented by calming colors, which are essential for potential flying customers. Deep blues, muted greys, wood-colored tans and cream backgrounds accentuate the airline's focus on safety and comfort. A simple and easy to read Helvetica font adds to the running theme of simplicity.

Though there are a whole universe of uninvited logo designs by free-lance designers on the vast web, American Airlines actually initiated this contest. Kovecses was awarded $1,000 for her work.
