Latvian artist Alex Konahin recently drew a series of line drawings that entices viewers into byzantine mazes of swirling shapes and intersecting lines. Intricate would not be an adequate description of these illustrations. The level of detail and superb composition of the pieces make these designs stand out.

Whether it is a heart, flower or star, each drawing in the series features the same overall theme. These shapes are realized through smaller, composite shapes, which are themselves rendered with fine lines and subtle shading. In this way, the drawings are similar to fractal art.

The viewer can choose to focus on the main theme or delve deeper into the details. It is a feast for the eyes looking at these drawings. Konahin deserves credit for his precision as an artist.
