Diageo Offers Lagavulin 1991 for Further Maturation

Diageo is giving private clients a way to buy a full Lagavulin 1991 cask and choose whether to bottle it now or let it keep maturing. The offer sits at the center of The Twelve by Casks of Distinction and features the oldest Lagavulin single malt cask the company has yet put up for private purchase.

Cask #1069 is aging at Royal Lochnagar in Scotland's Highlands. It began in refill European and American oak in 1991, then moved to a Pedro Ximénez-seasoned hogshead in 2007, a change that layers richer dried-fruit depth onto Lagavulin's peated style. Owners can also work with Diageo's whisky makers on later maturation and bottling.
