Cask-Finished Single Malts

Aberfeldy Launches Its White Port Double Cask

Bacardi-owned Aberfeldy introduced a 24-year-old single malt finished in white Port casks as the latest addition to its Exceptional Cask series. Available exclusively through the distillery in Perthshire and its online store, the limited-edition release undergoes secondary maturation in white Port casks, resulting in a 50.7% ABV expression limited to 252 bottles.

Crafted by malt master Stephanie Macleod, the whisky is designed to complement Aberfeldy's signature honeyed character with notes of citrus peel, stone fruit and delicate nuttiness from the white Port finish. Priced at £350 per 700ml bottle, the release is also available to distillery visitors by the dram, offering enthusiasts an opportunity to sample the expression before purchasing.

For whisky collectors, the release showcases how alternative wine cask finishes can introduce fresh flavor profiles to well-aged single malts without overshadowing their core character. The expression reflects the growing interest in limited-edition Scotch whiskies that combine traditional maturation with innovative finishing techniques.
