The Rikert Outdoor Center in Ripton, Vermont, has introduced Adaptive Bike Days. This new initiative is designed to make winter outdoor activities more accessible to individuals with mobility challenges.
Running every Wednesday through March, Rikert Outdoor Center's Adaptive Bike Days offers free sessions where participants can explore Vermont’s winter landscapes using specially designed bikes. The program provides expert guidance from adaptive biking specialist Anja Wrede and a team of volunteers, who ensure each rider is matched with the appropriate equipment and receives personalized support.
Participants can start in a safe, controlled area before potentially venturing onto longer trails, depending on their comfort level and snow conditions. The program also welcomes those who own adaptive bikes with tires 4.0 or larger.
