Accessible Burger Packaging

The McDonald's 'EatQual' Packaging Can Easily Be Opened Using One Hand

McDonald's locations across southern and western India are offering accessible burger packaging that is designed to make it easier for people with limb-related disabilities to open and enjoy burgers with dignity.

The 'EatQual' packaging took several versions to attain its current form and was developed in conjunction with a partner NGO. The end result is a unique burger packaging solution that does not require the use of both hands, as is typically the case with conventional packaging offered by McDonald's as well as other burger chains.

McDonald's notes that more than 21 million across India live with a disability, and over a quarter of these individuals live with disabilities related to movement. By developing burger packaging that is easier to use for people with mobility issues related to the upper limbs, McDonald's is looking to make its dine-in and takeout experience more accessible while contributing to a more accessible world in its own way.
