A Path of Memories is a new project by artist Motoi Yamamoto. Yamamoto's latest exhibit is located at a former nursery school in Suzu city in Japan. Known for his carefully arranged salt lines, the artist mimics former salt-made maze patterns in his new exhibit to emulate his past work.
The exhibit features a path of patterned walls that lead into a salt garden room. The room holds seven tons of the white mineral in a peacefully arranged garden. To finalize the project, the Japanese artist worked with young and older participants in a collaborative effort to create the installation for the Oku-Noto Triennale 2020+. Included in the installation are stair-like objects made entirely from salt surrounded by blue and white patterned walls.
